As the summer break approaches, schools in the UAE are preparing to wind down their activities before students head off for a two-month break starting on July 8. The last day of school for most students is Friday, July 5, with classes set to resume on August 26. Some schools have special activities planned for the last week, including visits from UAE astronauts, end-of-year trips, award ceremonies, staff dinners, and appreciation events.

One school that is gearing up for a special event is GEMS International School, Al Khail, where the final week will see two UAE astronauts from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre open a new Space Lab. The school is also organizing teacher appreciation events and annual academic and sports awards ceremonies to celebrate the achievements of both students and staff.

Cranleigh Abu Dhabi is another school that is marking the end of the term with prize-giving ceremonies, house events, and various end-of-year trips, talent shows, and concerts. Students will participate in a musical showcase featuring singing, orchestra, wind band, student rock bands, piano recitals, and an art exhibition. The school is also hosting final sporting events, competitions, and tournaments to wrap up the academic year on a high note.

Indian schools in the UAE have already started their summer break after concluding their first term last week. Schools like Amity School Dubai completed their exams and assessments before planning exciting activities such as KG Market Day, a 10-Day Maths Challenge, talent auditions, and fun class parties. The emphasis for schools is on celebrating students’ achievements and fostering a sense of community before the break.

Despite the summer break, schools are keeping students engaged with vacation assignments to ensure that they stay connected with academics and continue to develop their skills. These tasks include exploring online digital reading resources and real-life application projects to keep students cognitively engaged during the break. By providing these opportunities for learning, schools aim to make the transition back to school life after the break smoother for students.

As schools in the UAE power down for the summer break, they are focusing on celebrating the achievements of students and staff through a variety of events and activities. From award ceremonies to talent shows to astronaut visits, schools are ensuring that the last week before the break is memorable for everyone involved. With a blend of fun and learning, students are set to enjoy a well-deserved break before returning for the new academic year.
