The extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit that recently took place in Riyadh focused on the need to mobilize international support to freeze Israel’s participation in the UN General Assembly and its affiliated bodies. The leaders also expressed concerns about the escalating aggression in the region, which has affected countries such as Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and Iran. The summit called for international action to halt this aggression and condemned the Israeli occupation army’s crimes in Gaza, labeling them as a genocide. Additionally, the summit urged the Security Council to form an international committee to investigate these crimes and hold the perpetrators accountable.

The Arab and Islamic leaders at the summit also called for international support for the State of Palestine to be granted full membership in the United Nations. They condemned the continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon and called for an immediate ceasefire, as well as the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1701. The leaders pledged their support for Lebanon’s constitutional institutions and emphasized the importance of electing a president for the country to ensure stability and unity.

The summit strongly criticized Israel’s policy of collective punishment in Gaza, urging the international community to take immediate steps to end the humanitarian crisis in the region. The resolution called on the UN Security Council to oblige Israel to stop its aggressive policies and demanded a ban on the export of weapons to Israel. The leaders also denounced the double standards in the application of international law, particularly when it comes to holding Israel accountable for its actions.

Efforts to mobilize international support for the State of Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations were emphasized at the summit. The leaders called for political and diplomatic support for the Palestinian people and unity to effectively govern the occupied territories. Additionally, support for economic recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza was stressed, along with the release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues by the Israeli occupation authority.

The Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee, headed by Saudi Arabia, was tasked with continuing its efforts to stop the aggression against Lebanon. The summit also highlighted the importance of protecting maritime navigation in accordance with international law. The signing of a tripartite mechanism to support the Palestinian cause by the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the African Union was welcomed as a step towards achieving peace and stability in the region.

Overall, the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh brought to light the urgent need for international support to address the escalating aggression in the region and to hold accountable those responsible for crimes and violations of international law. The leaders stressed the importance of solidarity and unity in supporting the State of Palestine and ensuring stability and peace in the Middle East. By mobilizing international support and taking concrete actions, the summit aimed to pave the way for a resolution to the ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises in the region.
