Alamiya Filmed Entertainment, a new independent film studio based in Riyadh, recently acquired Lyra Pictures and is now focused on creating compelling stories. Led by CEO and Chairman Sultan Al Muheisen, the studio aims to bring creativity and influence to the film industry. Wesam Kattan and Bassma El Afghani, CEO and President of AFE, are leading the studio’s operations in Riyadh, Dubai, and Los Angeles, blending global expertise with local insights.

Kattan emphasizes the strategic pillars guiding AFE, including bespoke filmmaking processes, evidence-based slate development, and talent programs to nurture future filmmakers. The studio’s diverse film slate includes a female-led action comedy in Turkey, a true story about a legendary Saudi drifter, and a British biopic about an F1 legend. AFE is committed to delivering varied and compelling entertainment to audiences worldwide.

In addition to producing films, AFE is dedicated to nurturing talent in various areas of filmmaking, such as writing, producing, and Below-The-Line professions. El Afghani announces the studio’s first talent initiative, the Writers’ Masterclass, aimed at championing emerging professionals in the industry. Applications for the Writers’ Masterclass are now open on AFE’s website, showcasing the studio’s commitment to supporting and developing talent within the local film community.

By acquiring Lyra Pictures and rebranding as Alamiya Filmed Entertainment, the studio is poised to make a significant impact on the film industry. With a focus on crafting compelling stories and nurturing talent, AFE aims to bring a fresh perspective to the global film landscape.
