The first edition of the Global Logistics Forum took place in Riyadh, where Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih announced that four Saudi airports will be handed over to private sector management by 2025. He also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s potential to become one of the largest producers of green energy in the world. Al-Falih stressed the importance of regionalizing supply chains, emphasizing the country’s strategic location at the intersection of major trade routes. He also noted the signing of agreements to develop maritime communication between Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, highlighting the Gulf Railway Grid as an important addition to the existing transportation network.

Al-Falih discussed the increasing demand on ports and the necessity of transitioning to clean energy to meet future transportation needs. The Global Logistics Forum, organized by the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services under the patronage of King Salman, aims to bring together logistics experts and leaders to collaborate and shape the sector’s future. With sessions covering global trade, technological advancements, environmental technologies, and infrastructure investments, the forum provides a platform for discussions on sustainability, global trade flexibility, and innovative technologies in the logistics sector. The event includes around 120 speakers, including ministers, experts, and international leaders, who will explore ways to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the logistics sector.

The forum seeks to promote international cooperation and adapt logistics services to the rapidly evolving global demands. It will focus on how modern technologies and innovations can help overcome challenges and create a more sustainable and connected world. The event will also witness the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding between leading logistics entities to enhance sector integration and build a more efficient global network. On the sidelines of the forum, the Saudi Ministry of Transport and Logistics signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport to collaborate on maritime transport research, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the logistics sector.

Overall, the Global Logistics Forum serves as a platform for industry leaders to discuss key trends, challenges, and opportunities in the logistics sector. With a focus on sustainability, global trade flexibility, and innovative technologies, the forum aims to foster cooperation and enhance efficiency in the logistics industry. The event provides an opportunity for participants to engage with decision-makers, discuss ways of cooperation, and develop strategies to sustain and develop the logistics sector. With a growing focus on clean energy and sustainable transportation, Saudi Arabia is poised to play a significant role in the production of green energy and the development of logistics supply chains in the region.
