Al Duhail’s Philippe Coutinho led his team to a 3-1 comeback victory against Al Shamal in the Round of 16, setting up a clash with defending champions Al Arabi in the Amir Cup quarter-finals. Al Arabi also secured a comeback win, defeating Second Division side Al Sailiya 2-1. Both teams are aiming for success in the prestigious tournament to salvage their seasons.

Al Duhail faced a scare when Al Shamal took the lead through Ricardo Gomes’ goal in the 39th minute. However, Philippe Coutinho equalized for the Red Knights with a clinical spot kick just before halftime. Ismail Mohamad then gave Al Duhail the lead in the second half, with Michael Olunga sealing the victory late in the game. The team’s determination and fight for success were evident throughout the match.

On the other hand, Al Arabi fought back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over Al Sailiya, with goals from Abdou Diallo and Rafinha. The defending champions showed their resilience and determination to defend their title. Now, they are set to face Al Duhail in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash that promises to be thrilling and competitive.

Debutants Al Waab and Al Bidda are also making their mark in the tournament, with Al Waab facing First Division side Qatar SC and Al Bidda taking on Umm Salal. Both teams are eager to showcase their talent and make a strong impression in their debut appearances. The matches are expected to be challenging and closely contested, with all teams aiming for a place in the quarter-finals.

The competition in the Amir Cup is fierce, with every team giving their best to advance in the tournament.
