Authorities have issued a notice urging the public to protect wild birds on Abu Dhabi islands, which serve as a safe haven for these beautiful creatures during the summer months. Some of these islands are crucial breeding grounds for migratory terns. It is emphasized that collecting wild bird eggs is illegal under Federal Law No. (24) of 1999, as hunting, capturing, or harming wild birds and their nests is strictly prohibited. Violating this law can result in imprisonment and fines ranging from Dh2,000 to Dh20,000. It is our responsibility to ensure the safety of these birds and protect their habitats, with authorities urging the public to refrain from collecting eggs and report any illegal activities to the government.

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) highlighted the importance of safeguarding the wild bird population on Abu Dhabi islands, particularly during the hot summer months. These islands provide crucial breeding grounds for migratory terns and other bird species, making them essential habitats that need protection. With the growing threats to wildlife due to human interference, it is crucial for individuals to be aware of and respect the laws in place to safeguard these delicate ecosystems. By adhering to regulations such as the prohibition of collecting wild bird eggs, individuals can contribute to the preservation of these species and their habitats, ensuring their survival for future generations to enjoy.

Recognizing the critical role that each individual plays in preserving the environment, authorities have emphasized the significance of abiding by laws and regulations that protect wild birds and their habitats. It is essential for residents and visitors to Abu Dhabi to be mindful of their impact on local ecosystems and wildlife, and to act responsibly to ensure the continued survival of these species. By refraining from activities such as collecting wild bird eggs and reporting any illegal behavior, individuals can actively contribute to the conservation and protection of these vulnerable populations. With the support and cooperation of the public, authorities can better enforce regulations and safeguard the natural heritage of Abu Dhabi for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has reiterated the message that ensuring the safety and protection of wild birds is a shared responsibility among all individuals.
