Dubai Media Summit 2026 Highlights Key Transformations in Journalism

The Dubai Press Club organized a series of engaging sessions and events on the first day of the Arab Media Summit 2026. These activities showcased the experiences and insights of leading journalists, writers, and content creators while discussing significant transformations within the media sector. The discussions also explored the latest developments in journalism, content creation, and artificial intelligence.

The platform hosted diverse activities, including sessions tied to the Silver Jubilee Podcast of the Arab Media Award, masterclasses, and “Media Chats.” This format created an inclusive dialogue space that combined professional expertise, critical perspectives, and creative experiences, thus shedding light on the evolution of Arab media and its future prospects.

Engaging Sessions on Media Evolution

The platform featured a series of sessions highlighting noteworthy milestones in Arab journalism and media. Various perspectives were shared on the profession’s evolution and its roles. One notable session, titled “Between Pen and Screen,” featured writer and journalist Susan Al Shaar. This discussion focused on the shifts in media expression tools and the changing relationship between traditional writing and digital platforms.

Another significant dialogue took place during the session “What We Don’t See in the Award” with writer Dr. Mohammed Al Nagaimish, where the intricacies behind nominated media works and the challenges faced by content creators were discussed. This session provided valuable insights into the often-overlooked aspects of media production.

Community Perspectives in Journalism

In the session “Community Angles by Badriya,” Dr. Badriya Al Bushar was invited to discuss the presence of societal issues within journalistic writing. The conversation emphasized the role of opinion pieces in reflecting and analyzing social transformations. This focus on community issues is essential, particularly as media seeks to engage more deeply with audience realities.

The session titled “Journalism Between Yesterday and Today” examined the profession’s changes over the decades, emphasizing the continuum of challenges and advancements. Additionally, renowned writer Suleiman Joudah participated in a podcast during the Silver Jubilee, reiterating the importance of journalistic writing and its influence in shaping public opinion.

Reflections on Historic Publications

One of the standout sessions featured Walid Al Nafs, the Editor-in-Chief of Al Qabas newspaper. This session, “Al Qabas Between the Memory of Yesterday and the Questions of Tomorrow,” explored the publication’s historic journey and its adaptability to the changing media landscape. The dialogue addressed pivotal moments in Al Qabas’s history and its role in navigating the rapid transformations within the media industry.

The panel discussions collectively highlighted the challenges and prospects facing journalism in an era characterized by swift technological changes and evolving audience expectations. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on how these transformations can shape the future of media and content delivery.

Celebrating Literary Contributions

In conjunction with the sessions, the platform facilitated the book signing of “Prophet of the North” by author and novelist Dr. Osama Al Shazly. This event provided an opportunity for summit attendees to engage with the author and gain insights into his literary journey. Such literary engagements underscore the importance of written narratives within the cultural and media landscape accompanying the Arab Media Summit.

As the summit continues, it is anticipated that further discussions will build on the insights shared during the initial events. Attendees are encouraged to stay tuned for sessions that will explore emerging trends, technological advancements in media, and the future trajectory of journalism in the region.
