Middle East Oil and Gas Conference 2027 to be Held in Bahrain
Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, the Kingdom will host the Middle East Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition “MEOS Geo” from September 14-16, 2027, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. This prestigious event will attract leaders from the energy sector, experts, and academics from the region and around the globe.
Since its inception in 1979, the MEOS Geo has been organized in Bahrain by Informa Bahrain, in collaboration with various professional organizations, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. The Ministry of Oil and Environment plays a supportive role, enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a hub for international specialized conferences and exhibitions, while also attracting global expertise and companies.
Preparations Underway for MEOS Geo 2027
As part of early preparations for the event, the Executive Committee for MEOS Geo 2027 held its first meeting on August 27, 2026, at the Wyndham Grand Manama Hotel. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Anas Al-Shaibi from Saudi Aramco, the conference president, alongside Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Shehil, the Technical Committee Chairman, and members of the executive committee. The gathering focused on strategic, organizational, and technical aspects of the upcoming edition, while prioritizing tasks and enhancing coordination among various committees and relevant entities.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed the overall vision for the next edition and defined the structure of the committee, along with its members’ roles and responsibilities. Proposed arrangements for the opening ceremony, executive session, and panel discussions were also discussed.
The meeting examined the technical program of the conference, its core pillars, and main tracks, as well as highlights from the previous edition. It also addressed the method of inviting submissions of technical papers and targeted categories and topics, aiming to attract quality contributions from experts and researchers on both regional and international levels.

In addition, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, General Manager of Informa Bahrain, noted that the first executive committee meeting reflects the ongoing progress in preparations for MEOS Geo 2027. He remarked on the collaborative efforts with Aramco, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Ministry of Oil and Environment to deliver a world-class event that promotes specialized dialogue, innovation, and knowledge exchange.
Looking Ahead to the Event’s Impact
Michelle Tan, Vice President of Events at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), reiterated the organization’s commitment to working closely with the executive committee and partners to create a robust and forward-thinking technical program that meets the evolving needs of the oil, gas, and earth sciences sectors. Building on the solid foundations established in the 2025 edition, she expressed hope for gathering professionals and researchers from around the world to exchange knowledge, showcase innovations, and contribute to the sector’s advancement.
The preparations for the 2027 edition follow the notable success of MEOS Geo 2025, which attracted more than 17,400 visitors and featured extensive regional and international participation. Notably, attendees from Saudi Arabia comprised over 60% of the total visitors. The event included more than 120 technical sessions and achieved a remarkable exhibitor rebooking rate of 82.6%, underscoring its value and appeal to participants and partners.
