The UAE concluded its participation in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 23, 2026. The forum, which convened over 3,000 global leaders, focused on critical issues facing the world, and the UAE delegation actively contributed to discussions on topics ranging from artificial intelligence to food security. A key theme of the UAE’s presence was its commitment to fostering global partnerships and driving practical solutions to shared challenges.

Led by Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, the UAE delegation comprised over 100 participants, including senior government officials and CEOs from prominent UAE companies. This substantial presence underscored the nation’s growing influence on the international stage and its dedication to collaborative problem-solving. The UAE’s involvement in Davos signals a continued commitment to shaping the future of global cooperation.

UAE at Davos: A Focus on Global Partnerships

The UAE’s strategy at the WEF centered on knowledge sharing, building alliances, and identifying actionable solutions to pressing global issues. Delegates engaged in conversations surrounding artificial intelligence, digital governance, and smart systems, alongside critical humanitarian concerns like food security, healthcare access, and water management. This approach aligned with the WEF’s overarching theme of “A Spirit of Dialogue,” emphasizing the importance of open communication and mutual understanding.

A significant aspect of the UAE’s delegation was the strong representation from the private sector. This participation highlighted the vital role UAE businesses play in driving economic growth and innovation. It also facilitated opportunities for UAE firms to forge new partnerships, exchange expertise, and demonstrate their expanding global ambitions. Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, stated that the UAE’s engagement strengthened international cooperation and facilitated the exchange of valuable knowledge.

Key Outcomes and Agreements

The UAE’s presence in Davos yielded several noteworthy agreements and initiatives. A new phase of the strategic knowledge partnership between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum was launched, including a memorandum of understanding to host the annual Global Future Councils meetings in Dubai for the next five years. This move aims to bolster collaboration on future trends and support global efforts to address economic and social challenges.

Additionally, the UAE, in partnership with WEF, introduced the Global Strategic Intelligence Programme. This program is designed to enhance the ability of governments and institutions to anticipate global shifts and make more informed strategic decisions. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and WEF also announced the next phase of their collaboration to advance smart health systems and healthy longevity, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in preventative and personalized healthcare.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director and Group CEO of Mubadala Investment Company, was appointed Chair of the WEF’s International Business Council (IBC) for two years, becoming the first person from the Middle East to hold the position. The IBC serves as a crucial platform for dialogue between business leaders and policymakers. Furthermore, the Technology Innovation Institute announced the launch of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Advanced Technologies, in collaboration with WEF, focusing on technologies related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In anticipation of the 2026 UN Water Conference, which the UAE will host, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an MoU with WEF to support preparations. This agreement underscores the UAE’s commitment to public-private collaboration and progress on water-related goals. Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence also signed a cooperation agreement with WEF to establish the Abu Dhabi Centre for the Future of Artificial Intelligence, solidifying the UAE’s role as a global AI hub. The UAE also released the third edition of the TradeTech Report, showcasing advancements in using technology in global supply chains.

The UAE’s active participation in Davos 2026 underscored its commitment to building a future-ready economy and a society prepared for rapid global change. Through strategic partnerships, innovation, and a focus on practical solutions, the UAE reinforced its position as a key player in global development, technology, and sustainable growth. The country’s ambition is to continue shaping global discussions and supporting stability and prosperity worldwide.

Looking ahead, the UAE will host the Global Future Councils meetings in Dubai, beginning next year, and the 2026 UN Water Conference. The success of these events, and the continued implementation of the agreements forged in Davos, will be key indicators of the UAE’s ongoing influence and commitment to addressing global challenges. Further developments in the areas of AI and advanced technologies, as well as progress on sustainable development goals, will be closely watched in the coming months.
