Strengthening Bahrain-Italy Relations Through Strategic Cooperation

His Royal Highness Prince Salman emphasized the significant progress in Bahrain–Italy relations, attributing its strength to the vision and support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The relationship has matured beyond simple diplomatic ties, evolving into a robust strategic partnership that offers mutual benefits and addresses shared challenges. This emphasis reflects Bahrain’s proactive approach to diversifying its international relationships and securing long-term economic advantages.

The Crown Prince specifically highlighted Bahrain’s dedication to enhancing this partnership, actively seeking opportunities that align with the interests of both nations and contribute to the well-being of their citizens. He expressed his confidence that continued dialogue and collaborative initiatives will unlock further potential for growth and innovation in the years to come.

Italy’s Role in Regional Stability and Global Peace

Beyond bilateral economic cooperation, the meeting also addressed broader regional and international concerns. His Royal Highness praised Italy’s constructive role in promoting global peace and security, and its dedication to fostering stability in the wider Middle East region. Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, has consistently championed values of tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity.

This shared commitment to peaceful resolution and international cooperation provides a strong basis for collaboration on initiatives aimed at de-escalating tensions and promoting sustainable development within the region. Furthermore, Bahrain and Italy both recognize the importance of a rules-based international order and are dedicated to upholding it.

Landmark Agreements Signed: A Boost to Bahrain’s Industrial Sector

The productive discussions culminated in the signing of several key agreements, solidifying the commitment to concrete action and signaling a new phase of deepened cooperation. These deals are set to significantly impact Bahrain’s industrial landscape and technological capabilities.

ASRY and Fincantieri: Advancing Shipbuilding Capabilities

A crucial cooperation agreement was inked between Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (ASRY), a leading maritime facility in the Middle East, and Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups. This agreement focuses on advancing Bahrain’s shipbuilding industry, leveraging Fincantieri’s extensive expertise in naval vessel construction and marine engineering.

The partnership aims to enhance ASRY’s technical capabilities, creating a hub for advanced shipbuilding services in the region. Dr. Ahmed Al Abri, CEO of ASRY, and Eugenio Santagata, General Manager of Fincantieri’s Naval Vessels Division, formalized the cooperation, outlining ambitious plans for joint projects and knowledge transfer. This collaboration will boost Bahrain’s efforts toward economic diversification, moving beyond traditional oil-based industries.

ASRY and Roboze: Establishing a Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Facility

Adding another layer to Bahrain’s industrial modernization efforts, ASRY also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Roboze, an Italian technology company specializing in advanced additive manufacturing – often referred to as 3D printing. This MoU outlines plans to establish a state-of-the-art smart manufacturing facility within ASRY, utilizing Roboze’s cutting-edge technologies.

The facility is expected to cater to the needs of various sectors, including oil and gas, aerospace, and marine, offering on-demand production of customized parts and components. Led by Dr. Ahmed Al Abri and Roboze CEO Alessio Lorusso, this initiative marks a significant step towards embracing Industry 4.0 principles and bolstering Bahrain’s position as a regional innovation leader. The adoption of additive manufacturing technologies simplifies supply chain management, reduces waste, and accelerates product development.

Official Reception and Attendees

An official reception ceremony was hosted in honor of Prime Minister Meloni, including the playing of the national anthems of both Bahrain and Italy – a symbolic demonstration of respect and strengthened bilateral bonds.

The meeting was attended by a high-level delegation including His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and numerous other senior government officials, demonstrating the importance placed on this diplomatic engagement.

Looking Ahead: A Promising Future for Bahrain-Italy Ties

The meeting between His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni signals a robust and promising future for Bahrain-Italy relations. The signed agreements in maritime engineering and advanced manufacturing are not merely transactions but represent strategic steps towards a deeper, more diversified, and mutually beneficial partnership. As Bahrain continues on its path of economic reform and diversification, Italy emerges as a strong ally and key collaborator, offering expertise and investment opportunities that contribute to the Kingdom’s long-term prosperity and regional influence. The ongoing dialogue and commitment to shared values will undoubtedly pave the way for further cooperation and strengthened ties between the two nations.
