Doha, Qatar – Preparations are well underway across Qatar, specifically at The Pearl and Gewan Islands, to host a vibrant celebration for the upcoming FIFA Arab Cup 2025. United Development Company (UDC), the master developer of these premier destinations, is planning a comprehensive program of cultural and sporting events to welcome fans, families, and visitors from throughout the Arab region. The focus is on creating an immersive experience centered around the FIFA Arab Cup, enhancing Qatar’s reputation as a world-class event host.

The festivities will primarily unfold between December 1st and December 18th, 2025, coinciding with the tournament schedule. Two dedicated fan zones will be established, one at the amphitheater in Porto Arabia and another in Medina Centrale, offering large-screen live broadcasts in safe, family-friendly environments. This initiative aims to provide dynamic hubs for supporters to gather and celebrate the spirit of the tournament and Arab camaraderie.

A Festive Atmosphere for the FIFA Arab Cup

The UDC’s plans extend beyond simply broadcasting the matches. A rich calendar of family activities, cultural programs, and entertainment options will be deployed throughout both Gewan Island and Qanat Quartier. This multifaceted approach seeks to cater to a diverse audience and provide memorable experiences for all attendees. These activities will complement existing attractions, like the Medina Centrale Carnival.

The Medina Centrale Carnival, already a popular draw, will continue throughout the championship period. Its colorful celebrations and interactive attractions will be readily accessible to football fans and visitors. According to UDC, the intention is to amplify the carnival’s appeal to align with the excitement surrounding the Arab Cup.

Infrastructure and Community Focus

Both The Pearl and Gewan Islands boast considerable infrastructure designed to accommodate large-scale events. This includes ample parking, easy access to public transportation and a wide range of dining and retail options. UDC emphasized the importance of ensuring seamless logistical support for fans throughout the tournament.

This event aligns closely with Qatar’s broader tourism strategy and its commitment to hosting prominent international sporting events. Qatar previously hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, an event credited with significantly boosting tourism and raising the country’s profile on the global stage. Building on this success, the Arab Cup aims to further cement Qatar’s position as a leading destination for sports tourism in the Middle East.

Additionally, the initiative supports the goals outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030. The vision emphasizes building a sustainable and socially connected nation, and UDC believes these events contribute directly to that ambition by fostering community engagement and cultural exchange. The island destinations are positioned as key spaces for bringing people together and celebrating shared passions, like sports.

The selection of The Pearl and Gewan Islands as key event locations is notable due to their distinct character. The Pearl, known for its luxury retail and dining, offers a sophisticated environment. Gewan Island, still under development, provides a newer, more expansive space for activities. This duality offers differing experiences for visitors throughout the event.

Looking ahead, UDC will be finalizing the detailed schedule of events and coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure smooth operations during the tournament. The success of these initiatives will be closely monitored to assess their impact on tourism and community engagement. Potential challenges, such as managing large crowds and ensuring adequate transportation, will also be key areas of focus in the lead up to December 2025.

It remains to be seen how attendance figures will compare to the 2022 World Cup, given the different scale of the two tournaments. However, officials are optimistic about attracting a substantial number of visitors and creating a memorable experience that reflects the vibrancy and hospitality of Qatar.
