Doha, Qatar – Media City Qatar showcased its commitment to fostering innovation in the media and technology sectors as a Headline Sponsor of the inaugural GSMA MWC25 Doha, held November 25-26. The event provided a platform for discussing the future of content creation, digital transformation, and the evolving creative industries within Qatar and the broader region. This participation underlines Qatar’s ambitions to become a leading global hub for media production and technological advancement.

The two-day conference, which drew attendees from across the globe, focused on key trends shaping the future of connectivity. Qatar’s hosting of MWC25, the first edition in the Middle East, signifies its growing influence in the telecommunications and related industries, according to the GSMA. Media City Qatar utilized the event to highlight its expanding ecosystem and nurture collaborations between international organizations and local talent.

Media City Qatar Drives Discussion on AI and the Future of Media

A central theme of Media City Qatar’s involvement was the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI). Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori, CEO of Media City Qatar, led a session at the Qatar University Booth titled “How AI is Transforming Innovation, Media, and Creative Industries.” He emphasized AI’s role in streamlining workflows and boosting efficiency in content development and production.

Additionally, Al Khori participated in a fireside conversation on the MWC Main Stage, “Designing the Experience Economy,” moderated by Euronews’ Laila Humairah. The discussion explored how immersive technologies and AI are revolutionizing audience engagement and creating novel opportunities for cultural and entertainment experiences. This aligns with the nation’s broader push for a knowledge-based economy.

Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Media City Qatar’s presence extended to the 4YFN (Four Years From Now) Stage, a dedicated space for startups and venture capital. Tevfik Ergun, Director of Strategy and Excellence, joined a panel titled “Strategic Media Innovation: Where Content, Technology, and Venture Creation Converge,” moderated by Dr. Ilana Wisby. The session highlighted Media City Qatar’s strategy for connecting global media groups, emerging content creators, and startups within a supportive ecosystem.

The organization’s engagement also included participation in the CMO Circle Roundtable, hosted by GSMA’s CMO Lara Dewar. Senior marketing leaders convened to analyze findings from the IBM Institute for Business Value’s 2025 CMO Study and discuss the increasing impact of AI on global growth strategies. This roundtable further demonstrated a commitment to understanding the evolving digital landscape.

Throughout MWC25, Media City Qatar operated a dedicated Media Village, providing a centralized hub for journalists and media organizations to network and produce onsite coverage. This facility underscored Media City Qatar’s aim to facilitate comprehensive reporting on the event and its implications for the technology sector.

Eng. Jassim Mohamed Al Khori stated that hosting MWC25 in Qatar demonstrates the nation’s rising prominence as a center for media and technology. He emphasized Media City Qatar’s dedication to promoting AI, nurturing digital creativity, and establishing advanced media ecosystems in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The vision aims to diversify the Qatari economy and promote sustainability.

Media City Qatar continues to forge partnerships with both international and local entities to unlock new possibilities in content creation, technology development, and talent cultivation. These collaborations aim to cultivate a dynamic and competitive creative sector, bolstering Qatar’s long-term economic goals.

Looking ahead, Media City Qatar will likely focus on implementing strategies discussed during MWC25 to attract further investment and develop the local talent pool. Ongoing assessments of the event’s impact and feedback from participants will inform future initiatives. The success of MWC25 in Doha positions Qatar to potentially host subsequent editions, further solidifying its role in the global technology and media community.
