Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their strong and historic ties with the signing of four memoranda of understanding during the third meeting of the Kuwait-Saudi Coordination Council. Held in Riyadh on Monday, the meeting was co-chaired by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

## Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

The agreements cover key sectors, including economy and planning, public-private partnerships (PPP), science and technology, and media. This marks a new phase of bilateral cooperation aimed at advancing development, innovation, and integration across multiple fields. The signing of these memoranda highlights the commitment of both countries to enhance their partnership and tackle common challenges.

Kuwaiti Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil Dr. Sheikh Nimr Fahad Al-Sabah said the MoU on economy and planning represents an important step toward mutual economic growth. The agreement focuses on medium- and long-term planning, economic studies, policy governance, and leadership development, alongside cooperation in green, circular, and digital economies. This cooperation is expected to drive economic progress and improve the quality of life for citizens in both countries.

### Fostering Economic Growth

The memorandum will help both countries achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through shared expertise, studies, and technical exchanges. By working together, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia can leverage their combined strengths to address common economic challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Sheikh Nimr, who chairs the Coordination Committee for Energy, Economy, Trade, and Industry, also invited Saudi counterparts to the committee’s next meeting in Kuwait on December 2.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Ministry of Finance Undersecretary Aseel Al-Munifi highlighted the significance of the two MoUs signed under her committee. One focuses on PPP cooperation, and another on science, technology, and innovation. These agreements reflect the outcome of months of consultations and joint planning, demonstrating the depth of cooperation between the two nations.

## Enhancing Public-Private Partnerships and Innovation

The PPP MoU aims to enhance legislative, technical, and regulatory expertise exchange to improve public-private project implementation in both nations. It also encourages continued coordination through business exchanges, joint workshops, and conference participation. This will facilitate the sharing of best practices and expertise, ultimately driving economic growth and development.

The second MoU under Al-Munifi’s purview focuses on science and technology, aiming to foster innovation through researcher exchanges, collaborative projects, and scientific events. This will promote knowledge transfer between Kuwaiti and Saudi institutions, driving advancements in various fields. By collaborating on science and technology initiatives, both countries can accelerate their progress toward becoming knowledge-based economies.

## Advancing Media Cooperation

Kuwaiti Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Dr. Nasser Al-Muhaisen described the MoU on radio and television cooperation as a qualitative leap in Gulf media partnership. The agreement supports content development, program exchange, and expertise sharing in broadcasting and production. It also encourages joint production, training, and workshops to strengthen Gulf media’s contribution to national and Arab causes. This cooperation is expected to enhance the media landscape in both countries, promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

## Strengthening Security and Defense

On the security front, Acting Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior Maj Gen Ali Al-Adwani reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to bolstering coordination in security, defense, and crime prevention. The meeting of the Joint Military and Security Coordination Committee under the council addressed updates in cybersecurity and strategic planning, underscoring the shared resolve to maintain stability and strengthen joint defense capabilities. This cooperation is crucial in addressing common security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens in both nations.

In conclusion, the signing of the four memoranda of understanding between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia marks a significant milestone in their bilateral relations. The agreements cover key sectors and demonstrate the commitment of both countries to enhance their partnership and drive progress in various fields. As both nations continue to work together, they are poised to achieve greater economic growth, innovation, and stability. The strengthened ties between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia serve as a model for regional cooperation, promoting a brighter future for the Gulf region. By fostering cooperation and collaboration, both countries can tackle common challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities, ultimately enhancing the lives of their citizens.
