Katara seminar discusses Syria’s reconstruction

The Syrian Engineers Association in the State of Qatar recently organized a seminar titled “Construction Culture and Reconstruction Strategy” in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of Engineer Ammar Hamouda, Chairman of the Association, and Engineer Khaled Nassar. The seminar, moderated by Engineer Khaled Aqil, discussed the association’s vision and role in the process of rebuilding Syria. Held at the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, the seminar saw a significant turnout of Syrian engineers.

During his speech, Hamouda emphasized the importance of the current historical phase the Syrian people are going through post-liberation and victory. He highlighted the challenges that lie ahead and the need for collective efforts to rebuild a free and independent homeland. Hamouda acknowledged the pivotal role played by Syrian engineers in Qatar, particularly in significant projects like the preparations for the 2022 World Cup. He praised their efficiency and ability to work with advanced technologies, contributing to the enhancement of their skills.

Furthermore, Hamouda emphasized the association’s determination to transfer the expertise gained in Qatar to Syria to aid in the reconstruction of infrastructure and engineering systems. He stressed the necessity of aligning national specifications with international standards and ensuring the implementation of sustainable projects that elevate living standards and foster confidence in the engineering sector. Hamouda also underlined the importance of nurturing innovation and supporting young entrepreneurs through the establishment of business incubators and accelerators to foster economic development.

In collaboration with Syrian competencies in Qatar, Hamouda highlighted the significance of developing curricula in Syria to prepare a new generation of engineers capable of leading the reconstruction process. He expressed gratitude to Qatar, its government, and people for their unwavering support to the Syrian people. Hamouda also thanked Katara for hosting the symposium, reflecting its commitment to strengthening cultural and developmental ties. The Syrian engineers pledged to continue working diligently to rebuild their country, emphasizing the essential role of regional and international partnerships in achieving Syria’s desired renaissance.

Engineer Khaled Nassar detailed the process of rebuilding Syria and the importance of raising awareness in various facets, starting from society, the state, and cities, to achieve sustainable reconstruction and development goals. He highlighted the challenges facing the reconstruction of cities, such as the extensive destruction and the need for significant budgets. Nassar emphasized the Syrian Engineers Association’s role in Qatar in overcoming these challenges by leveraging their diverse experiences from Qatar and other countries in the reconstruction of Syria.

In conclusion, the seminar shed light on the crucial role of Syrian engineers in rebuilding their country and the significant impact of their experiences gained in Qatar on the reconstruction process. The association’s commitment to transferring knowledge and skills to Syria, supporting innovation, and nurturing young talent underscores their dedication to contributing to the country’s development. With a focus on strengthening partnerships and collaboration, Syrian engineers are poised to play a key role in the reconstruction and revitalization of their nation, guided by a vision of sustainable progress and prosperity.
