The Bahrain International Airshow recently celebrated the announcement of four Bahraini students who have been selected for the prestigious Endeavour Scholarship. This initiative will allow them to attend the renowned Space Camp in the United States next summer, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of space and science leaders. His Excellency Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, commended the scholarship winners for their achievements and emphasized the transformative impact of the program. He mentioned how previous participants have gone on to pursue careers in STEM fields, aligning with the program’s mission to inspire Bahraini youth in space and science.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah also highlighted the importance of collaboration, praising the efforts of Bahrain’s National Space Agency (NSA) and the Ministry of Education in supporting the selection process. He emphasized Bahrain’s dedication to STEM education and future leadership in aerospace. U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, His Excellency Mr. Steven C. Bondy, also praised the collaborative efforts between Bahrain and the United States, calling the Endeavour Scholarship announcement a personal highlight. He highlighted the importance of space science in everyday life and referenced key agreements formalizing the commitment to peaceful and cooperative space exploration.

Last year’s scholarship recipients, Hassan Abdulrahman Hashem and Maryam Al Awadhi, shared emotional testimonies about their Space Camp experience and how it impacted their lives. Hassan described the program as life-changing, emphasizing the technical and teamwork skills he gained through simulations and rocket design activities. Maryam, now pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, encouraged the new students to fully immerse themselves in the experience and embrace the challenges ahead. Their journeys showcased the powerful influence of the scholarship and how it has shaped their academic and career paths.

As the new scholarship recipients prepare to embark on their journey to the U.S. Space Camp, their achievements symbolize Bahrain’s commitment to fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and innovation. The event closed with congratulations to the students, who will join a legacy of Bahraini youth inspired to become leaders, innovators, and advocates for space exploration in the years to come. Through initiatives like the Endeavour Scholarship, Bahrain continues to prioritize STEM education and empower its youth to excel in the fields of space and science. The collaboration between Bahrain and the United States in these educational programs further strengthens the partnership and contributes to advancements in space technology and research with broader social and economic benefits.
