The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) recently held a meeting to discuss the tasks of sectoral committees in 2024. Chaired by Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas, the Chairman of OCCI Board of Directors, the meeting focused on the progress of sectoral committees in achieving their plans and how the OCCI’s performance aligns with the private sector’s expectations. The meeting also addressed challenges facing businesses in Oman, including low demand, and explored initiatives to boost consumption and develop innovative products in line with the government’s efforts to enhance local content.

One key topic of discussion was the National Programme for Investment and Exports Development (Nazdaher), an initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and startups in various economic sectors. This initiative is crucial in driving economic growth and creating opportunities for businesses in Oman. By providing support to entrepreneurs and startups, the OCCI aims to foster innovation and encourage the development of new products and services that can contribute to the growth of the economy.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of addressing challenges facing businesses in Oman, such as low demand. By identifying mechanisms and initiatives that can stimulate demand and promote consumption, the OCCI aims to create a more favorable business environment in the Sultanate. This includes exploring ways to develop innovative products that meet the evolving needs of consumers and align with the government’s efforts to enhance local content.

In addition to discussing the challenges facing businesses, the meeting also focused on the performance of the OCCI and its role in supporting the private sector. By reviewing the progress made by sectoral committees and assessing how well the OCCI has met the expectations of the private sector, the meeting aimed to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the Chamber continues to play a key role in supporting businesses in Oman.

Overall, the meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to come together and discuss ways to address challenges facing businesses in Oman and promote economic growth. By exploring initiatives like Nazdaher and focusing on developing innovative products, the OCCI aims to create a more dynamic and competitive business environment that supports the growth and sustainability of businesses in the Sultanate. Through collaboration and strategic planning, the OCCI and its sectoral committees are working towards creating a more vibrant and prosperous economy in Oman.
