Coco Gauff secured her spot in the semi-finals of the WTA Finals in Riyadh by defeating Iga Swiatek in a rare victory. With this win, Aryna Sabalenka is set to finish the year as the world number one. Gauff, who had only won one of her previous 12 meetings with Swiatek, managed to turn the tables during their match. She won in straight sets, showcasing her skills and determination on the court. This victory marked Gauff’s second straight-sets win in Riyadh this week, solidifying her spot in the next round.

The match between Gauff and Swiatek was intense, with Gauff taking control early on, breaking Swiatek’s serve multiple times. Despite Swiatek putting up a fight and managing to break Gauff’s serve, it was Gauff who ultimately emerged victorious. The American player displayed great confidence and focus throughout the match, despite hitting 11 double faults. Swiatek, a five-time major champion, acknowledged the challenges she has faced recently, including a two-month break and a new coach. However, she remains determined to improve and perform better in her next matches.

In another match, Barbora Krejcikova defeated Jessica Pegula, ending Pegula’s chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. Krejcikova, the reigning Wimbledon champion, showcased her skills and determination on the court, bouncing back from an earlier loss. Krejcikova emphasized the importance of fighting for every ball and playing her best tennis. Despite being ranked number 13 in the world, Krejcikova qualified for the WTA Finals due to a new rule that prioritizes Grand Slam winners within a specific ranking range. She continues to impress on the court and remains a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.

Both Krejcikova and Swiatek will have to wait until Thursday to learn their qualification fate in Riyadh. The WTA Finals in Riyadh have been full of intense matches and surprising outcomes, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. As the tournament progresses, players like Gauff, Sabalenka, Krejcikova, and Swiatek are showcasing their skills and determination, making each match a thrilling experience for spectators. With high stakes and the world number one ranking on the line, the competition promises to be fierce as players battle it out for a chance to advance to the next round and potentially claim the title.
