The FIP World Padel Championships in Doha saw the impressive performances of World Champions Argentina and four-time winners Spain, as they both secured spots in the quarter-finals with perfect records. In Group A, Argentina advanced along with Belgium, while Spain and UAE booked their places from Group B. In Group C, both France and Chile secured spots in the next round, as Qatar finished in fourth place behind Uruguay. Portugal and Brazil advanced from Group D.

Although Uruguay emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Qatar, the home pair of Ahmed Alhijji and Mohammed Saadon Al Kuwari put up a fierce fight with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win in the last encounter. Uruguay’s Martin Araujo de Lizarza and Matias Ilardia Meyer kicked off the tie with a strong win over Qatar’s Hassan A. Waly and Jabor Al Mutawa, followed by Higor Ensslin Alves and Diego Ramos securing a 2-0 lead by defeating Mohamed Al Khanji and Ahmed Hassan.

In the women’s quarter-finals, heavyweights Spain, Argentina, and France all booked their spots without dropping a set in the group stage. Along with Italy, they will face the best second-placed teams- Brazil, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden in the quarter-finals. Yesterday’s group stage matches saw Argentina, France, Brazil, and Italy securing clean sweeps, while Japan, USA, and reigning champions Spain also displayed dominant performances.

Moving on to the quarter-finals, Spain will face Sweden, France will take on Portugal, Argentina will go up against the Netherlands, and Italy will compete against Brazil for a place in the semi-finals. The action at the FIP World Padel Championships continues to heat up as the teams battle it out for the coveted title.
