The historic EU-GCC Summit in Brussels saw His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, deliver a powerful address highlighting the urgency for collaboration between the EU and GCC. This marked a significant moment of diplomatic engagement, with the aim of addressing shared challenges and the need for coordinated action on global issues. The summit was a milestone in the relationship between the two regions, focusing on international stability, peace, and prosperity.

At a time when shared goals and values are under threat, the GCC and EU must work together to foster security, economic prosperity, and regional unity. With tectonic shifts in the geopolitical order affecting both regions, there is a pressing need for stronger partnerships among like-minded countries worldwide. The current global crises are more complex than ever before, requiring a more resilient framework to address evolving challenges and ensure long-term security and stability.

The conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East demand urgent attention and action, with devastating humanitarian consequences. It is imperative to seek immediate ceasefires, release hostages, and work towards the creation of viable and independent states to ensure regional stability and human well-being. Building a holistic, consensus-driven approach within global institutions is crucial to addressing real-world challenges and ensuring their responsiveness to current issues.

His Majesty King Hamad has called for an international peace conference on the Middle East, urging all nations to join in this vital initiative to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region. Together, the GCC and EU have made significant progress in expanding trade ties, with the EU being the GCC’s largest trading bloc. Efforts to advance discussions on the EU-GCC Free Trade Agreement will further enhance trade and investment ties, while embracing green and digital transitions.

On the security front, the EU and GCC are committed to building a strategic partnership to elevate collaboration to new heights, as demonstrated by the launch of the EU-GCC Regional Security Dialogue. With challenges such as climate change, rising trade barriers, and technological advancements, a coordinated global effort is essential to deliver sustainable impact. Despite obstacles, enhancing partnerships and working together will pave the way for a future defined by peace, prosperity, and shared purpose.

Several presidents and senior delegations at the summit reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation and addressing mutual aspirations of security, stability, and development. The attendance of senior officials emphasized the importance of working together to tackle global challenges and build a stronger framework for international collaboration. Overall, the EU-GCC Summit marked a crucial moment in diplomatic relations, highlighting the necessity for united efforts to address pressing global issues and build a more secure and prosperous future for all nations.
