Watch: Some parts of UAE affected by heavy rain and hail; orange alert issued

The United Arab Emirates experienced moderate to heavy rains on October 6, with hail observed in some areas of Fujairah. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and Storm Centre shared videos showing rains on the country’s eastern coast. The weather department issued an orange alert for convective clouds formation and rainfall, with the alert expected to last until 8pm.

From October 6 to 9, the UAE will be affected by a relatively cold air mass in the upper levels, accompanied by surface low pressure and upper air low pressure extensions. The weather department alerted residents to expect rain in some parts of the country during these days. Heavy rains were seen hitting the eastern parts of the country as well.

While parts of the UAE experienced rain, residents can anticipate humid conditions by night, continuing until Monday morning. Humidity levels are expected to range between 20% and 90%, with temperatures reaching up to 36℃ in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, reaching up to 35kmph at times, with light waves in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

NCM advised residents in the eastern and northern parts of the country to stay away from low-lying areas due to the risk of flash floods. Residents are advised to avoid driving unless necessary and to exercise caution if they do drive. Sharjah Police also urged motorists to be cautious while driving during rainy weather and to avoid dams and low-lying areas for their safety.

In summary, the UAE experienced heavy rains and hail on October 6, with the potential for more rainfall in the coming days. Residents are advised to stay informed about weather forecasts and take precautions to ensure their safety during inclement weather conditions. It is essential to follow the guidelines provided by the weather department and local authorities to minimize risks associated with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the region.
