The second edition of the ‘Rummana’ event in Jabal Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate attracted a total of 51,078 visitors, compared to 22,482 visitors in the first edition. This event is part of the agricultural tourism initiatives organized by Tibi Tourism Development Company in partnership with the Tourism Agriculture Development Company in Jabal Al Akhdar. The aim of the event is to promote environmentally friendly tourism, provide unique experiences to tourists, enhance local added value, and transfer knowledge and expertise to young generations.

Engineer Khalid bin Hamad Al Aghbari, Head of the Field Work Team at the Tourism Agriculture Development Company, stated that the second edition of the ‘Rummana’ event saw the participation of 45 small and medium-sized companies in various sectors. The event also highlighted productive institutions and families by showcasing their products. Fruit sales during the event exceeded 5,000 kilograms, with an estimated value of about OMR10,000. Additionally, the ‘Rummana’ project featured 667 pomegranate trees, producing around 8.5 tonnes this year. The increase in the number of visitors to this edition is attributed to its overlap with the “Summer of the Green Mountain” events, which included various cultural, social, sports, entertainment, and heritage activities.

Al-Amjad bint Hilal Al Maawali, partner and founder of Tibi Tourism Development Company, emphasized the exceptional experience provided by the ‘Rummana’ project to visitors. The event featured activities and events among the pomegranate trees, including restaurants, cafes, workshops, and cultural events for families and children. The goal was to instill the concept of agriculture tourism, transfer agricultural knowledge, and provide a platform for small and medium enterprises in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar to sell their products. Al Maawali highlighted the role of the ‘Rummana’ event in bolstering Jabal Al Akhdar’s position as a premier tourist, cultural, and agricultural destination in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The Wilayat’s natural resources contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the agricultural and tourism sectors, with the ‘Rummana’ event playing a vital role in supporting farmers to market their products.

In conclusion, the ‘Rummana’ event in Jabal Al Akhdar has successfully attracted a significant number of visitors, contributing to the promotion of environmentally friendly tourism and the enhancement of local added value. The event’s focus on showcasing the products of small and medium-sized companies, as well as productive institutions and families, has helped support the agricultural and tourism sectors in the region. With a diverse range of activities and events, the ‘Rummana’ project has provided a unique and educational experience for visitors, while also strengthening Jabal Al Akhdar’s position as a leading destination in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The success of the second edition of the event highlights the potential for further growth and development in the region’s tourism and agriculture industries.
