Ministry of Awqaf recognizes winners of Waqf & Picture competition

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani recently honored the winners of the 5th edition of the “Waqf & Picture” competition in Qatar. The ceremony took place at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Endowments, where 45 winners were praised for their creativity and talent. The competition saw participation from 694 photographers from 49 countries, showcasing the international appeal of the event. This year, the number of honourees in each category was increased to fifteen winners, with the prize amount totaling QR275,000.

During the ceremony, Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi highlighted the historical significance of endowment work and its impact on various sectors. He emphasized the role of Islamic values in supporting education and scientific innovation, noting that Muslim scholars have contributed significantly to the development of modern sciences and educational research. The General Directorate of Endowments’ decision to endorse this competition underscores the importance of recognizing and supporting scientific creativity and innovation in the field.

Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi also mentioned the positive impact of the State of Qatar’s achievements on the global stage, especially in the field of education. He emphasized the crucial role of the endowment in supporting sustainable development and education, which are essential pillars for national progress and advancement. The success of the competition reflects Qatar’s commitment to promoting excellence and creativity in various fields, fostering a culture of innovation and talent among its citizens and residents.

The theme of the sixth edition of the competition was announced by Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani during the ceremony. Set to launch on October 1st, the upcoming edition aims to continue the tradition of celebrating artistic talent and creativity in the realm of endowment and Islamic affairs. With a focus on encouraging participants to explore new ideas and perspectives, the competition serves as a platform for showcasing the cultural richness and diversity of the Islamic world.
