Envoy reveals the memoir of Qatar’s distinguished entrepreneur

Qatar’s prominent businessman and Director and CEO of Jumbo Electronics, C V Rappai, recently launched his autobiography titled ‘A Tale of Two Journeys’ in Doha. The book, published by Katara Publishing House, was unveiled by the Ambassador of India to Qatar, H E Vipul, at a ceremony attended by family members, Indian expats, and business enthusiasts. The event also saw the presence of esteemed guests like Sajed Jassim Sulaiman, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Jumbo Electronics, Dr Mohan Thomas, Founder Chairman of Birla Public School, and Joseph John, Programme Editor at Al Jazeera English.

The autobiography, consisting of 23 chapters, is the first comprehensive autobiography by an Asian expatriate in Qatar. It narrates Rappai’s journey to becoming a successful business magnate in the Gulf region. H E Vipul praised the book, highlighting its importance in showcasing the contributions of Indians in Qatar and their collaboration with the local community in various aspects such as business, education, and community development. He commended Rappai for his courage, conviction, and calmness as portrayed in the memoir.

During the event, Sajed Jassim Sulaiman, a long-time acquaintance of Rappai, expressed his honor in being part of Rappai’s journey and acknowledged the author’s accomplishments. Rappai, in his address to the audience, emphasized the significance of sharing personal stories and experiences to inspire others. He recognized the hard work and dedication of his generation of expatriates who played a crucial role in Qatar’s transformation into a global economic and diplomatic powerhouse.

Khalid Al Sayed, Director of Events and Culture Affairs at Katara Cultural Village Foundation, praised the uniqueness and inspiration found in Rappai’s autobiography, noting it as a testament to the opportunities and success achieved by expatriates in Qatar. The book is a reflection of Rappai’s experiences, perspectives, and achievements, serving as a motivation for others. The book also received well wishes from various high-profile personalities including the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, India’s Rajya Sabha MP, John Brittas, and Chairman and Managing Director of LuLu Group International, M A Yusuff Ali who conveyed their best wishes to Rappai through digital platforms.

The autobiography ‘A Tale of Two Journeys’ captures the personal and professional growth of C V Rappai, offering insights into his life’s challenges and triumphs. It celebrates the success stories of expatriates in Qatar and their contributions to the country’s development. The book serves as an inspiration for readers to pursue their dreams and overcome obstacles, drawing from Rappai’s experiences in building a successful business empire in the GCC region.

Overall, the launch of C V Rappai’s autobiography marks a significant milestone in the literary landscape of Qatar, showcasing the journey of an Indian expatriate who carved a niche for himself in the business world. The event brought together a diverse audience to celebrate Rappai’s achievements and to acknowledge the valuable role played by the expatriate community in shaping Qatar’s multicultural and thriving society.
