Peec Mobility, a Dubai-based start-up company, is revolutionizing the electric vehicle (EV) market by offering repurposed EVs at prices 50% cheaper than newly-manufactured EVs, with deliveries starting in the second quarter of 2025. The company’s prototype, ReCar.03, is a repurposed sedan that used to be a petrol-powered Toyota Camry, showcased at the Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress. Founder Zach Faizal emphasized the importance of this innovation in shaping the future of mobility.

The ReCar is made by repurposing retired petrol vehicles into EVs, resulting in a 30% reduction in manufacturing costs and 80% less manufacturing time compared to new EVs. Despite using existing vehicle bodies and chassis, the battery-powered ReCar can run up to 300km on a single charge. The interior is made from recyclable materials, and the updated HMI software application provides a modern driving experience without harmful carbon emissions.

Peec Mobility’s mission extends beyond providing affordable EV alternatives to individuals and companies. The company aims to support the UAE’s Net Zero goals by converting existing vehicles into electric ones, reducing emissions and promoting sustainability. Through partnerships with the government and scalable conversion models, Peec Mobility envisions a significant reduction in emissions from the transportation sector by 2030, contributing to a greener future.

The increasing popularity of EVs in Dubai is evident, with the number of registered EVs doubling from 15,100 in 2023 to over 30,000 in April 2024. DEWA reports that Dubai has seen a surge in EV adoption, aligning with the UAE’s target of having 50% of all vehicles on the roads be electric by 2050. Peec Mobility’s innovative approach to repurposing vehicles highlights the potential for cost-effective and sustainable solutions in the EV market, paving the way for a cleaner and more environmentally conscious transportation sector.

As the demand for EVs continues to rise globally, Peec Mobility’s repurposed EVs offer a compelling alternative to traditional manufacturing, addressing both economic and environmental concerns. The company’s commitment to reducing emissions and supporting sustainability aligns with the UAE’s ambitious Net Zero goals, showcasing the potential for innovative solutions to drive positive change in the transportation industry. With the launch of the ReCar and its upcoming deliveries in 2025, Peec Mobility is poised to make a significant impact on the EV market and contribute to a greener future for all.
