Qatar and Finland to strengthen trade and education relations

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani recently met with Prime Minister of Finland H E Petteri Orpo at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Helsinki. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Qatar and Finland, focusing on areas such as investment, energy, education, and international collaboration. They also touched on key regional and international issues, including the latest developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The meeting was attended by several ministers and officials from both countries.

In addition to meeting with the Prime Minister, H H the Amir also met with Speaker of the Parliament of Finland H E Jussi Halla-aho. During this meeting, they discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and explored topics of mutual interest. Both sides were accompanied by members of their official delegations. The meetings were part of Amir’s official visit to Finland, which also included the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and a letter of intent between Qatar and Finland.

One of the MOUs signed was in the field of peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution, highlighting the commitment of both countries to working together on global issues. Another MOU established the Joint Ministerial Committee for Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation, aiming to boost cooperation in these areas. A third MOU focused on vocational and technical education and training, showcasing the importance of education in the partnership between Qatar and Finland.

Additionally, a letter of intent was signed between Qatar Chamber and the Helsinki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasizing the desire for increased economic cooperation between the two countries. These agreements were signed by various officials from Qatar and Finland, further solidifying the commitment to strengthening ties and working together on common goals. Amir’s visit to Finland was part of a larger tour that included Sweden and Norway, showcasing Qatar’s commitment to enhancing relationships with European countries.

Overall, the meetings between H H the Amir and Finnish officials focused on enhancing cooperation in various areas, with a particular emphasis on investment, energy, education, and international collaboration. The signing of MOUs and a letter of intent further solidified the commitment of both countries to working together on common goals and strengthening bilateral relations. Amir’s visit to Finland, as part of a larger tour that included Sweden and Norway, highlights Qatar’s commitment to building partnerships with European countries and working together on key regional and international issues.
