Commerce Minister meets with British counterpart to discuss Free Trade Agreement

The Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion also highlighted the importance of promoting trade between the two countries by facilitating access to markets and enhancing economic cooperation. He stressed the need to work closely to overcome any obstacles that may hinder trade relations between Oman and the United Kingdom, to ensure the growth and sustainability of their economic partnership. In this context, the meeting saw both sides sharing views and ideas on how to further enhance their trade and investment collaboration.

Additionally, both Ministers discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global trade and investment, and the measures taken by each country to mitigate its effects on the economy. They highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination in dealing with the current challenges posed by the pandemic, and the need to work together to support businesses and promote economic recovery. The meeting emphasized the shared commitment of Oman and the United Kingdom to work together towards a sustainable and resilient post-pandemic economic recovery.

Furthermore, the Ministers stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as energy, technology, infrastructure, tourism, and healthcare. In conclusion, the meeting between His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef and His Excellency Douglas Alexander underscored the strong and enduring friendship between Oman and the United Kingdom, as well as their shared commitment to strengthening economic ties and promoting trade and investment cooperation. The Ministers reaffirmed their mutual desire to enhance bilateral relations, explore new opportunities for collaboration, and overcome any challenges that may arise.
