The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning recently held a meeting in Salalah to discuss various aspects related to the masterplan for Greater Salalah and the Future City of Salalah, as well as current and future housing projects in the Governorate of Dhofar. This meeting, which was attended by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, focused on the vision of Greater Salalah as a national economic gateway for Oman and its impact on economic development in accordance with Oman Vision 2040.

One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the Salalah Future City project, which is part of an integrated development and strategic plan aimed at accommodating population growth, attracting investment, and strengthening the economy of the region. The project also aims to develop the transportation system, improve the quality of services, and enhance the infrastructure in the area. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of developing agricultural areas, such as the Najd region in Dhofar Governorate, to achieve sustainable development goals and contribute to food production self-sufficiency in the country.

Another important aspect that was discussed during the meeting was the rural housing project in Dhofar Governorate. The participants emphasized the importance of preserving green spaces, pastures, open plains, and grazing areas in the region, as well as ways to develop and invest in these areas in coordination with various relevant parties. The meeting also provided an opportunity for members of the Municipal Council in Dhofar Governorate to share their suggestions and opinions on housing programs and projects, as well as the future plans of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to enhance and develop urban areas in the wilayats.
