25% of Tabuk’s Public Transport Project Consists of Electric Buses

Tabuk Emir Prince Fahd bin Sultan recently attended a ceremony for the signing of a contract for a public bus transport project in Tabuk city. The project will see the implementation of eco-friendly electric buses, with 25 percent of the buses being electric. This will be the first public transport project in Saudi Arabia to utilize electric buses. The project will cover four lanes spanning 128 km with 106 stopping points, and will employ 90 drivers operating the service for 18 hours a day. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics, Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, along with other key officials.

During the ceremony, Prince Fahd bin Sultan commended the Saudi leadership for their unwavering support of the transport sector in the Kingdom, as well as their commitment to enhancing the quality of life in Tabuk city. He also praised the development of a sustainable public transport system, emphasizing the importance of improving road safety and reducing traffic congestion in the city. The project is a significant step towards achieving these goals and providing efficient transport options for residents and visitors to Tabuk.

The contract signing ceremony was also attended by Turki Al-Subaihi, the CEO of public transport at the Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO), and Tabuk Region Mayor Hessam Al-Yusef. This collaboration between government officials and private sector entities highlights the commitment to improving transportation infrastructure in Tabuk city. The project will not only benefit the residents of the city but also contribute to the overall economic development and growth of the region.

Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih emphasized that the operational costs for the transport project will be reasonable, making it an accessible and affordable option for commuters. The introduction of electric buses demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. By offering multiple transport options, the project aims to improve mobility and convenience for individuals living and visiting Tabuk city.
