This includes private schools, kindergartens, and nurseries. According to the Ministry of Education, there were 76 private schools in the country, with the highest number in the Northern Governorate. The number of kindergartens reached 147, and nurseries totaled 64.

Bahrain has a long history of private education institutions, making it a regional leader in formal education development. In recent years, the country has focused on privatizing the education sector, leading to private institutions contributing significantly to the value added in the education industry. Private education also provides job opportunities for Bahraini citizens, contributing to the growth of skilled graduates in the nation.

The private education sector in Bahrain contributed 2.5% to the country’s real GDP in 2021, with a total value added of 315 million Bahraini dinars. Despite challenges, the sector saw growth of 0.5% in 2021 and employs 3% of the total private sector workforce in Bahrain. Additionally, it boasts one of the highest Bahrainization rates in the Kingdom, showcasing the sector’s commitment to local talent.

The influx of investment in education in Bahrain highlights a successful public-private partnership model, providing diverse educational opportunities based on quality, innovation, and sustainability. This collaboration aims to achieve the goals of comprehensive development in the country, ensuring that the education sector continues to thrive and contribute to the overall growth of Bahrain’s economy.

In conclusion, Bahrain’s private education sector is a key component of the country’s economy, providing valuable services, job opportunities, and contributing significantly to the nation’s GDP. The sector’s growth and commitment to quality education highlight Bahrain’s position as a regional leader in formal education development and showcase the success of public-private partnerships in achieving the goals of comprehensive development. As the sector continues to thrive, it will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Bahrain’s education system and economy.
