Salalah Airport in Oman has seen an 11% increase in passenger traffic since the start of the Khareef Dhofar season in 2024. With 10 international airlines operating direct flights from 18 destinations to Salalah, Oman Airports is focusing on providing top-notch facilities for both operators and visitors during the busy tourist seasons in the Sultanate of Oman. Zakaria bin Yaqoub Al Harrasi, Vice President of Salalah Airport, emphasized the importance of strengthening the airport’s workforce to ensure smooth movement of passengers and aircraft during peak seasons.

During the Khareef season, Dhofar Governorate experiences a surge in tourism activity, attracting Omani and Gulf tourists. The airport management is optimistic about the continued increase in passenger traffic as more events and activities are planned in Dhofar Governorate. In preparation for the winter season following the Khareef season, the airport is operating at full capacity to meet the growing demand. This proactive approach aims to provide a seamless travel experience for passengers and maintain high operational efficiency.

To further enhance the passenger experience, Oman Airports has introduced a new service called “Travel Easier” in collaboration with strategic partners. This service offers a dedicated hall near the air cargo building at Salalah Airport where passengers can complete their travel procedures. Additionally, passengers can check in their bags and receive their boarding pass up to 12 hours before departure time. The “Travel Easier” service is available daily from 8 am to 8 pm for all airlines operating at Salalah Airport, making travel more convenient and hassle-free for visitors to Dhofar Governorate.

As the Khareef season progresses, Salalah Airport is focused on maintaining high levels of service quality to accommodate the growing number of passengers. With the addition of new international operators and direct flights to Salalah, the airport continues to play a key role in promoting tourism in Oman. By providing a seamless travel experience and top-notch facilities, Salalah Airport aims to attract more visitors from both within the Sultanate and from the Gulf region.

The increase in passenger traffic at Salalah Airport reflects the growing popularity of Dhofar Governorate as a tourist destination during the Khareef season. With a wide range of events and activities planned in the region, the airport is gearing up to handle the influx of passengers efficiently. By focusing on operational efficiency and customer service, Salalah Airport aims to provide a world-class travel experience for all visitors to Dhofar Governorate, further establishing the airport as a key gateway to the region.

Overall, Salalah Airport’s commitment to providing exceptional service and facilities during peak tourist seasons highlights its dedication to promoting tourism in Oman. With the successful implementation of the “Travel Easier” service and ongoing efforts to enhance the passenger experience, Salalah Airport is well-positioned to cater to the growing demand for travel to Dhofar Governorate. As the winter season approaches, the airport is ready to meet the challenges and opportunities that come with increased passenger traffic, ensuring a seamless travel experience for all visitors.
