The “Himaiyah” initiative, which means “protection” in Arabic, has been launched to educate children and parents about the dangers of cyberspace and empower them to navigate the online world safely. This initiative is a collaborative effort between multiple ministries and authorities in Bahrain. If you suspect that your child has been targeted by cybercrime, it is important to contact the Cyberspace Child Protection Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security. This unit can be reached via hotline at 992, email at [email protected], or by visiting their office in the Adliya area. By working together and taking proactive measures, the Kingdom can create a safer online environment for children and protect them from the threats posed by cybercrime.

The internet, while a vast source of knowledge and entertainment, also poses dangers for children. Online platforms can become breeding grounds for exploitation and abuse, with predators using sophisticated techniques to manipulate and harm young users. These methods often involve threats and coercion, pressuring children to reveal sensitive information, transfer money, or engage in harmful activities that bring distress to themselves and their families. To address these risks, it is crucial for both children and parents to remain vigilant and take proactive measures for protection. Parents should regularly monitor their child’s online activity and maintain open communication about the potential dangers that exist in the digital realm.

Discussing appropriate online behavior and emphasizing the importance of not sharing personal information with strangers is essential. Parents should also encourage their children to avoid interacting with strangers on social media and ensure their profiles are set to private. Using parental control apps can help in keeping track of online activity and restricting access to inappropriate content. By instilling good online habits and establishing clear boundaries, parents can help to protect their children from the dangers of the cyber world. It is important for children to understand the risks associated with the internet and to know how to navigate the online world safely.

The Himaiyah initiative aims to raise awareness about cyber safety and empower children and parents to recognize and respond to potential threats. By providing education and resources about online safety, the initiative seeks to create a safer online environment for all users. It is important for children to learn about the potential dangers of cyberspace and to know how to protect themselves from online threats. By equipping children with the knowledge and tools to stay safe online, the Himaiyah initiative is working towards a more secure digital landscape for everyone. It is crucial for parents to be actively involved in monitoring their child’s online activity and providing guidance and support to help them navigate the online world responsibly and safely.

By working together and taking proactive measures, Bahrain can create a safer online environment for children and protect them from the threats posed by cybercrime. The Himaiyah initiative is an important step towards addressing the dangers of cyberspace and empowering children and parents to stay safe online. By educating children about the risks associated with the internet and providing resources for protection, the initiative is working towards a more secure digital future for Bahrain. It is essential for parents to be informed about the potential dangers of cyberspace and to take the necessary steps to protect their children from online threats. With the support of the Himaiyah initiative and the collaborative efforts of ministries and authorities, Bahrain is on the path to creating a safer online environment for all.
