Returning from a relaxing vacation can bring about feelings of anxiety and difficulty in readjusting to work routines, a phenomenon known as re-entry anxiety. This condition is becoming more prevalent as people prioritize leisure and time off to cope with the stresses of modern life. Symptoms of re-entry anxiety can include restlessness, lack of motivation, difficulty concentrating, and even mild depression. The abrupt shift from a relaxed vacation environment to the demands of work can be overwhelming and impact productivity and overall well-being.

Individuals like Abdullah from Abu Dhabi and Ahmed from Dubai have shared their experiences of struggling with re-entry anxiety after returning from vacation. These individuals found it challenging to regain focus and motivation at work, experiencing feelings of restlessness and discomfort. Healthcare specialists acknowledge that feeling stressed or anxious about returning to work after a vacation is common. Dr. Bino Mary Chacko, a specialist psychiatrist, notes that transitioning from a relaxed vacation mode to the demands of work can be challenging and often leads to feelings of anxiety.

Psychologist Dana Berri advises individuals to plan and prepare for the transition back to work to help ease feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. Setting realistic expectations, creating a specific to-do list, following a routine, taking small breaks, prioritizing self-care, and setting boundaries for workload can all help in managing re-entry anxiety. Berri emphasizes the importance of acknowledging these feelings as temporary and taking steps to adapt and overcome them.

It is important to remember that re-entry anxiety is a normal reaction to returning to work after a vacation. It is essential to plan and prepare emotionally for the transition back to work to help manage feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. Setting realistic expectations, following a routine, prioritizing self-care, taking breaks, and setting boundaries for workload can all help in easing the transition and adapting to the demands of work after a relaxing break. By acknowledging these feelings and taking steps to manage them, individuals can overcome re-entry anxiety and return to their daily routines with greater ease.
