The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) has announced an open call for design proposals for the national pavilion of Bahrain at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. This prestigious event, taking place until November 2025, provides a prominent global platform for showcasing architectural innovation and addressing current global challenges. The theme of the Exhibition, “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.”, highlights the importance of utilizing natural, artificial, and collective intelligence to tackle climate change and propose innovative architectural solutions for social, humanitarian, and technological issues of our time.

The Bahrain pavilion, named “Heat Wave,” will focus on exploring the impact of climate change on urban environments and showcasing adaptable architectural solutions. The pavilion is seeking a multidisciplinary team of up to five members, including at least one Bahraini national or resident, who will collaborate to bring the pavilion’s vision to life. Architects, designers, and creative professionals from around the world are invited to submit their innovative concepts that integrate urban development, sustainability, and the preservation of local environments.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of BACA, highlighted the significance of Bahrain’s participation in the Biennale. He emphasized that the International Architecture Exhibition at La Biennale di Venezia provides a valuable platform for Bahrain to showcase its rich architectural and urban heritage, as well as its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the face of environmental challenges. Participating in the Exhibition demonstrates Bahrain’s dedication to enriching the global architectural landscape with inspiring and practical solutions.

Those interested in submitting proposals for the Bahrain pavilion can do so before the deadline of 15 August by visiting the official Bahrain Pavilion website: www.bahrainpavilion.bh. This call for design proposals presents a unique opportunity for architects, designers, and creative professionals to contribute to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable architectural solutions on a global stage. Collaborating on the Bahrain pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia offers participants a chance to showcase their talent and expertise in creating innovative designs that blend urban development with environmental preservation.
