Marwan Al Haj, an engineer at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), expressed his gratitude for the support he received from his workplace after becoming a person of determination. Similarly, Aster DM Healthcare has over 36 PODs working within the company, bringing unique problem-solving skills and perspectives to the healthcare industry.
Recruitment firm Innovations Group has also seen success in hiring PODs for their clients, showcasing the determination and drive of these individuals. Rana Fanek, a Senior Associate at Aster Pharmacy, shared her experience of struggling to find employment in the UAE as an amputee before securing a job with Aster. With the support of her workplace, she has excelled in her role.
Support at the workplace plays a crucial role in the success of PODs like Marwan and Rana. DEWA provides Marwan with reserved parking and assigned individuals to assist him with his needs, ensuring he can perform his job effectively. Aster Pharmacy’s dedicated program, Absher, offers personalized accommodation plans and additional support for POD employees.
Executive admin Umm Saad works closely with PODs at DEWA to ensure they have full workplace accessibility and support tailored to their individual needs. Working alongside colleagues who are PODs provides opportunities for all employees to develop skills such as adaptability, communication, and problem-solving, fostering a more inclusive mindset in the workplace.
