Academy for Strategic and Defense Studies celebrates graduation of 11th military and government officials from their program

The Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies in Muscat recently celebrated the passing out of its 11th batch, which included senior officers from the Sultan’s Armed Forces and other military and security departments. The ceremony, held under the patronage of Lt. Gen. Said Ali Al Hilali, Head of the Internal Security Service, was attended by a number of high-ranking officials, including Maj. Gen Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy.

Throughout the course, participants engaged in a variety of study programs, practical applications, visits, lectures, and symposia led by military and security leaders. The Academy also attracted a number of distinguished guests, including heads of regional and international organizations, senior military commanders, experts, thinkers, strategic researchers, and decision-makers from Oman and beyond. The chief guest at the ceremony distributed certificates to the course participants, highlighting the participants’ newly acquired knowledge and skills in leadership, public policy development, and strategic decision-making in security and defence.

Beginning on 7 September 2023, the course provided a conducive academic environment for innovation, learning, research, and development, equipping participants with the tools needed to take on leadership roles and actively contribute to the formulation of public policies, national strategies, and sound strategic decisions in the security and defence sectors. The event was well-attended by SAF commanders, military and security service leaders, members of the State Council and Shura Council, as well as veteran officers.

The passing-out ceremony at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies marked a significant milestone for the participants, who now possess the necessary knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to Oman’s security and defence landscape. The event showcased the commitment of the academy to fostering excellence in leadership and strategic thinking among military and security professionals, both domestically and internationally.

Overall, the ceremony served as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the course participants, who have successfully completed a rigorous and comprehensive training program under the guidance of experienced military and security leaders.
