The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a warning to motorists about poor visibility caused by fog formation on Sunday morning, June 23. The red alert was sent out, notifying residents of a decrease in horizontal visibility that may worsen until 8:30 am. Abu Dhabi Police also cautioned drivers against poor visibility and advised them to reduce speed and follow traffic safety guidelines. The UAE can expect fair to partly cloudy weather on Sunday, with low clouds in the east coast in the morning and potential rainfall in the afternoon due to convective clouds. Humidity is expected to increase by night and Monday morning, with a possibility of mist in coastal areas.

The met department issued a red alert for heavy fog on Saturday, and the foggy conditions will persist until Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach 50ºC in specific areas like Gasyoura, Al Quaa, and Razeen, with humidity levels reaching up to 65 per cent in Razeen and 40 per cent in Gasyoura and Al Quaa. Abu Dhabi and Dubai will experience temperatures of up to 46ºC and 45ºC respectively. On Friday, June 21, Mezaira in the Al Dhafra region recorded the highest temperature of the summer season so far at 49.9 °C. Light to moderate winds are expected during the day, with occasional freshening. The sea conditions are expected to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

It is important for motorists to stay updated on the current weather conditions and follow any warnings or alerts issued by the authorities. Safety should be a top priority when driving in foggy conditions, and reducing speed and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles is crucial. Being aware of weather forecasts and road conditions can help prevent accidents and ensure a safe journey. Additionally, being prepared for changing weather patterns and following traffic guidelines can help ensure the safety of all road users.

It is recommended to check the visibility before embarking on a journey, especially during foggy conditions. Drivers should use their headlights and fog lights to enhance visibility and be cautious of other road users. Keeping a safe distance from other vehicles and avoiding sudden stops or maneuvers can help prevent accidents in low visibility situations. Abiding by traffic regulations and adhering to speed limits can contribute to a safer driving experience during adverse weather conditions.

The weather department plays a crucial role in informing the public about potential hazards like fog formation and poor visibility. By issuing alerts and warnings, they help residents prepare and take necessary precautions to stay safe. It is essential for motorists to heed these warnings and adjust their driving behavior accordingly to minimize the risks associated with reduced visibility. Following safety guidelines and maintaining awareness of changing weather conditions can help ensure a safe and smooth commute for everyone on the roads.

In conclusion, the recent fog warnings issued by the National Centre of Meteorology highlight the importance of taking precautions and staying informed about weather conditions when driving. By following safety guidelines, reducing speed, and being aware of visibility levels, motorists can navigate through foggy conditions safely. It is crucial to prioritize safety on the roads, especially during adverse weather, to prevent accidents and ensure a smooth journey for all road users. Stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and warnings to make informed decisions and safeguard your well-being while traveling.
