Saudi Arabia renews its strong support to resolve the Sudan crisis

Saudi Arabia has reiterated its full support for Sudan in resolving its current crisis, as announced by Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Abdulmohsen Majed bin Khothaila. In a recent interactive dialogue session on the situation in Sudan held by the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Bin Khothaila expressed the Kingdom’s concern regarding the ongoing military operations in Sudan and the resulting suffering for the country’s people. He emphasized the importance of resuming dialogue to achieve a political solution and avoid further escalation into war.

The Saudi envoy highlighted the need to protect civilians, relief and humanitarian workers, as well as critical infrastructure in Sudan. He stated that Saudi Arabia supports a Sudanese-led political solution that upholds the unity and sovereignty of Sudan and its national institutions. Bin Khothaila also mentioned that the Kingdom hosted the Jeddah talks between the two conflicting parties in Sudan, with the aim of stabilizing the ceasefire, reaching a final agreement, and ending the crisis in a way that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty and unity, enabling the country to restore its security and stability and move towards a brighter future.

According to a report from the Saudi Press Agency, Bin Khothaila emphasized Saudi Arabia’s role in facilitating dialogue between the conflicting parties in Sudan through the Jeddah talks. The Kingdom’s efforts aim to promote peace, stability, and security in Sudan, by encouraging both sides to engage in constructive discussions and find a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting the people of Sudan and ensuring their safety and well-being during this challenging time.

In line with its commitment to humanitarian principles and international law, Saudi Arabia has called for the protection of civilians, relief workers, and essential infrastructure in Sudan. The Kingdom advocates for a Sudanese-led political solution that respects the unity and sovereignty of Sudan and its national institutions, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and reconciliation to prevent further conflict and bloodshed.
