Haj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a sacred pilgrimage that must be undertaken by all Muslims with the means at least once in their lifetime. This year, Haj will start on June 14 in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Along with booking flights, arranging accommodations, and managing permits, pilgrims should also prepare themselves physically and mentally before the journey. It involves a series of rituals completed over at least four days in Makkah and its surroundings. Saudi Arabia has warned visitors to expect intense summer temperatures of 44℃ during the Haj, so it is essential to be well-prepared.

Pilgrims are advised to follow health recommendations and stay up to date with the latest news. Keeping essentials like a comprehensive medical kit containing hand sanitiser, wound care supplies, and medications, as well as personal items like toiletries, a handheld fan, and a light-coloured sun umbrella are vital to cope with the demanding conditions. It is also recommended to ensure health stability through a doctor’s consultation, maintain a healthy diet, and enhance physical fitness at least three weeks before traveling to manage fatigue and other health concerns.

Getting vaccinated before Haj is crucial to protect travelers from infectious diseases. Pilgrims are required to take vaccines such as the meningococcal vaccine, seasonal influenza vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine for those above 65 years or with chronic diseases. All Haj vaccines are provided for UAE pilgrims in health centers under Emirates Health Services. Residents are urged to keep a detailed medical report and consult a doctor to ensure overall health stability before embarking on the sacred pilgrimage.

It is important for pilgrims to pack smart and prepare for the intense summer temperatures expected during the Haj. Properly packing a personal bag with essential items like a medical kit, personal care products, and other necessities will help ensure a comfortable and safe journey. Pilgrims should also prioritize their health by consulting a doctor, getting vaccinated, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to prevent any health issues during the pilgrimage.

As the Haj involves a series of rituals completed over at least four days, pilgrims must be physically and mentally prepared for the journey. Along with following health recommendations and staying informed about the latest news, it is crucial to pack the necessary items for the trip. Ensuring health stability, getting vaccinated, and maintaining a healthy diet and fitness level are key aspects of preparing for the pilgrimage to Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

In conclusion, preparing for Haj requires careful planning and attention to detail to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Pilgrims should follow health guidelines, get vaccinated, and pack essential items to cope with the demanding conditions during the pilgrimage. By taking the necessary precautions and staying proactive about their health, pilgrims can make the most of their Haj experience and fulfill their religious obligations with peace of mind.
