Qatar University and Universitas Gadjah Mada form partnership

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Doha, Qatar recently made a significant move by entering a collaboration with Qatar University through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed by Prof Dr. Ova Emilia, Rector of UGM, and Dr. Omar Alansari, President of Qatar University, in the presence of H E Ridwan Hassan, the Indonesian Ambassador in Qatar, and several officials. This partnership is geared towards enhancing Arabic language and literature, as well as other aspects related to Islamic and Arabic Studies.

One of the key aspects of the MoU is the focus on providing Arabic language courses for non-native speakers (ANNS) at Qatar University. Additionally, the collaboration includes the exchange of professors, lecturers, scientists, and experts between the two institutions. Both UGM and Qatar University will also jointly organize symposiums, conferences, workshops, and lectures on Arabic literature and language. This move is aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Arabic culture and language.

Dr. Ova, the Rector of UGM, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are very pleased to be part of this collaboration and more than ready to implement this MoU.” Dr. Omar Al Ansari also emphasized the significance of this partnership for both universities, noting that they share similarities in their comprehensive fields of study and long historical contributions to their respective countries. Both institutions are committed to expanding their academic excellence and promoting cultural understanding through international partnerships.

The collaboration between UGM and Qatar University underscores the importance of academic and cultural exchange in today’s globalized world. By working together, both institutions aim to not only strengthen their academic programs but also promote mutual understanding and cooperation between Indonesia and Qatar. The joint efforts in enhancing Arabic language and literature reflect a shared commitment to fostering cultural appreciation and knowledge exchange among students and researchers.
