NextUp Golf is a groundbreaking initiative recently launched in Norway with the aim of elevating the country’s top golfers to international success. The program is designed to create a powerful alliance between the top professionals and most promising amateurs in the country through the mentorship of world number five Viktor Hovland. Hovland, who has had a remarkable journey in the game of golf, has achieved significant success in his career, including multiple professional wins and representation in prestigious tournaments like the Ryder Cup.

The goal of NextUp Golf is to bridge the gap from amateur to professional golf by working with the Norwegian Golf Federation and existing College golf programs. The program aims to provide guidance, resources, and opportunities for knowledge sharing and best practices to help aspiring golfers establish a solid foundation for their future careers. Regular training camps are held for all participants to enhance their skills, understanding of team dynamics, and foster a sense of community within the sport.

One of the key events in the NextUp Golf program is the annual two-day NextUp Invitational tournament, which will take place at Oslo Golf Club in July 2024. The tournament is dedicated to elevating the standards of junior golf in Norway and will feature 45 talented junior golfers in the initial field. Only 18 players will make the cut, with the ultimate prize being a chance to play alongside Viktor Hovland in a thrilling nine-hole match. During the tournament, Hovland will also share his short-game mastery in an exclusive exhibition golf clinic with the juniors and invited coaches.

Participants in the NextUp Golf program include talented golfers like Mats Ege, Kristian Krogh Johannesen, Michael Alexander Mjaaseth, Kristoffer Reitan, Herman Wibe Sekne, and Kris Ventura, who are either on golf scholarships at US universities or compete on professional tours like the DP World Tour, Challenge Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour. The program aims to provide a platform for these emerging talents to reach their full potential and make a mark on the international golf scene.
