Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, met with António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations, and his delegation during their official visit to Oman. The meeting focused on the cooperation between Oman and the UN, emphasizing partnerships in humanitarian and environmental initiatives, sustainable development, and peace efforts. They also discussed global challenges and the dire situation in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, calling for Israel to be held accountable for its actions and urging for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid access.

Sayyid Badr emphasized the importance of international responsibility in addressing the crisis in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, calling for an end to the siege and facilitating humanitarian aid. The UN Secretary General praised Oman’s efforts in promoting peace and stability through dialogue and understanding. Both sides highlighted the necessity of a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on international legitimacy and Security Council resolutions, emphasizing the need to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy and Mohammed Khaled Khairi, along with other officials from both sides.
