UAE opens applications for Sharjah Government Communication Award from around the world

The eleventh edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) has opened its doors to participants worldwide, offering a platform to showcase excellence in communication strategies. The award features 22 categories spread across five segments, including Government, International Organizations, and Private Sector; Individual Awards; Challenge and Competition Awards; Jury Awards; and Partner Awards. Interested individuals can apply for the awards online through the SGMB website from May 7 to August 1.

The award categories cover a wide range of topics, including Best Integrated Communication System in the Government Sector, Best Campaign Targeting Cultural Identity and the Arabic Language in the Government Sector, and Best Communication Targeting Youth in the Government Sector. Subcategories also include awards for Best Campaign Positively Impacting Youth Awareness and Practices, and Best Communication Program Supporting Emerging Projects and Youth. Additionally, Individual Awards recognize contributions such as Best Youth Initiative in Government Communication, Best Official Spokesperson, Best Research in Communication Sciences, and Best Purposeful Digital Content Creator.

Jury awards will honor outstanding figures in government communication and individuals making meaningful contributions to remote communities and social welfare initiatives. Some of the awards in this category include the Best Distinguished Government Official Award, Honouring of the Best Individual to Have Contributed Strategically to the Field of Government Communication, Award for Best Communication with Impact in Remote Communities, and Best Individual Positive Social Impact Award. Partner awards will also be presented, highlighting collaborations with organizations such as Apolitical, UAE CSO Network, and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).

Established by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the SGCA aims to celebrate excellence in communication strategies and campaigns. Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, emphasized the vital role of communication in addressing societal challenges, fostering partnerships, and strategic planning aligned with national interests and goals. The development of the award has been attributed to integrated efforts led by the International Government Communication Forum, elevating communication standards in the Arab region and positioning it competitively on a global scale.

The SGCA serves as a platform for individuals and organizations to showcase their innovative approaches to government communication, with a focus on driving positive change in various sectors. The awards program aims to recognize and reward exceptional contributions to the field while fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among industry professionals. By participating in the SGCA, individuals and organizations have the opportunity to gain recognition for their efforts and contribute to the advancement of government communication practices.
