Cabinet reviews Ministry of Public Health proposal on national policy for childhood obesity

The recent Cabinet meeting in Doha, Qatar, chaired by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, discussed various important topics. One major issue addressed was the national policy on childhood obesity in Qatar, proposed by the Ministry of Public Health. After the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi shared the outcomes. The Cabinet approved the hosting of the Fifth Regional Conference on Higher Education in Arab Countries and various draft agreements and memorandums of understanding related to development, agriculture, Islamic affairs, and communication.

Additionally, agreements between the Qatar Fund for Development and international organizations such as the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the United Nations Office were approved. Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of endowments and Islamic affairs between Qatar and Ethiopia was also approved, highlighting Qatar’s efforts to foster international partnerships in various sectors.

The topic of childhood obesity in Qatar was a significant focus during the Cabinet meeting, with the Ministry of Public Health presenting a national policy to address this pressing issue. Childhood obesity is a growing concern worldwide, and Qatar is taking proactive measures to combat this problem and promote healthier lifestyles among its youth. By prioritizing the development and implementation of a comprehensive national policy on childhood obesity, Qatar is demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of its future generations.

In addition to addressing childhood obesity, the Cabinet reviewed reports on the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, as well as the participation of the Qatari delegation in the 100th session of the Board of Directors of the Arab Labor Organization. These reports reflect Qatar’s engagement in promoting education, culture, and labor rights within the country and the Arab region. By actively participating in international organizations and initiatives, Qatar is contributing to the advancement of key sectors and promoting collaboration on a global scale.

Overall, the recent Cabinet meeting in Doha, Qatar, highlighted the government’s efforts to address various important topics, including education, development, health, and labor rights. Through the approval of agreements and memorandums of understanding, Qatar is strengthening its partnerships with international organizations and countries to support global initiatives.
