Qatar Foundation recently celebrated the academic achievements of its largest-ever graduating class, the Class of 2024. With eight universities conferring degrees on their students, this class is made up of about 1,000 students from over 75 nationalities. Out of this group, 40% are Qatari, with 72% being female and 28% male. Executive Director of Student Services, Dr. Abdulnassir Al Tamimi, described the Class of 2024 as one of the most resilient, having started their academic journey during a pandemic and now facing the current global crisis.

Dr. Al Tamimi praised this class for their advocacy for equality, justice, and human rights. Despite the challenges they have faced, including the pandemic and recent global crises, the Class of 2024 has shown motivation, resilience, and global awareness. Dr. Al Tamimi emphasized the importance of providing students with opportunities to develop transferable skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and collaboration through various student engagement activities and workshops.

One initiative to promote student development and engagement is the establishment of multiversity student clubs. These clubs bring together students from all universities within Education City, allowing them to collaborate and organize programs that enhance their personal and professional skills. Some of the newly launched multiversity student clubs include the QF Al-Noor Muslim Student Association, Wesal Entrepreneurship Club, International Student Organization, Qatari Students Organization, and the Arabic Student Club.

Qatar Foundation’s Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Samah Gamar, highlighted the focus on creating cohesion and opportunities for students across Education City universities. The aim is for students to feel a sense of belonging not only to their own campus but to the entire Education City community. Additionally, Qatar Foundation is committed to retaining its alumni in the country and preventing brain drain. Efforts are being made to provide graduates with job opportunities and continued educational options within Qatar, ensuring that valuable talent remains within the local workforce and industry.

Dr. Gamar stressed the importance of maintaining connections with alumni and offering them opportunities for work and further education within Qatar. By keeping graduates within the country, Qatar Foundation aims to prevent the loss of talent and ensure the growth and development of both the individuals and the nation. The focus is not only on academic success but also on providing graduates with the resources and support they need to thrive personally and professionally in Qatar’s evolving job market.
