The Al Wakrah team emerged victorious in a thrilling Qatar Cup final against Al Rayyan, with substitute Nasser Saleh Alyazidi scoring the winning goal in the 80th minute. This victory marked Al Wakrah’s first Qatar Cup title since the tournament was renamed in the 2013-2014 season. The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams showcasing their attacking prowess with seven shots on target each. Despite having two goals ruled out in the first half, Al Wakrah managed to maintain their composure and secure the win in front of over 8000 spectators at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.

The Qatar Olympic Committee President H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani presented the trophy to the Al Wakrah team and honored players from both finalists. Al Wakrah’s coach, Ali Rahma Al Marri, expressed his pride in the team’s performance, attributing the victory to the hard work of everyone involved in the club. The players gave their all in the final, showcasing determination and skill throughout the match. Al Marri emphasized that the title was well-deserved and highlighted the team’s efforts in overcoming challenges to emerge triumphant in the tournament.

The final saw a flurry of attempts from Al Wakrah in the first half, with Ayoub Assal and Mohamed Benyettou coming close to scoring but having their goals ruled out for offside. The game continued to be intense in the second half, with both teams pushing for a breakthrough. Achraf Bencharki’s powerful shot was saved by Al Wakrah goalkeeper Mohammed Ahmed Albakri, while Alyazidi made an immediate impact after coming off the bench by scoring the winning goal with a precise strike from close range.

Despite Al Rayyan’s persistent efforts to equalize, Al Wakrah’s defense held firm to secure the victory and lift the prestigious Qatar Cup trophy. Al Rayyan, who finished as runners-up in the Expo Stars League, will now turn their focus to the upcoming Amir Cup competition in hopes of ending the season with a silverware. Meanwhile, Al Wakrah will face Muaither in their next match, while Al Rayyan is set to play against Al Khor in the Round of 16 of the tournament.
