The ninth edition of QOMRA week at the National University of Science and Technology’s College of Engineering campus, entitled “Manifestation”, recently kicked off with an inauguration ceremony attended by Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, the Undersecretary of Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. The photography exhibition, organized by the QOMRA club, received a total of 343 entries from 96 photographers, with 32 photographers making it to the final selection. The exhibition features 40 photographs with various styles and themes, with Ghalib Al Hadabi, Ahad Al Alawi, and Al Yaqdhan Al Darmaki snagging the top three spots.
Ahad Al Alawi, a student at Sultan Qaboos University, expressed gratitude towards his university’s photo society for providing him with opportunities to hone his photography skills while balancing his academic pursuits. His project, “Behind the Curtain,” secured second place at the National University Photography Week. The photo captures a ballet dancer backstage, brimming with anticipation and anxiety, showcasing a blend of monochromatic tones that illuminate her raw emotions. Al Alawi’s artistic vision in capturing the internal struggle between self-doubt and passion is evident in this poignant image.
