Preparations are underway for the construction of a new railway project that will connect the Sultanate of Oman with the United Arab Emirates. This project aims to enhance transportation and trade between the two countries, with plans for the railway network to include two tunnels, 36 bridges, and passenger and freight stations strategically located in key cities such as Sohar, Buraimi, and Al Ain. The CEO of Asyad Group, Engineer Abdul Rahman bin Salem Al Hatmi, stated that the innovative engineering solutions used in designing the railway network will help overcome terrain and climate challenges.

The railway project is expected to bring significant economic benefits, with the ability to transport large quantities of cargo in a more efficient and environmentally friendly manner. The freight train will be able to transport over 25,000 tonnes of general cargo or more than 270 standard containers in a single trip, while reducing carbon emissions by 10 times compared to other transportation methods. The speed of the freight train is expected to reach 120 kilometres per hour, while the passenger train will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 200 kilometres per hour.

The project is projected to result in cost savings ranging from 35 percent to 40 percent compared to other transportation methods. It is estimated that the rail project will save 80 percent of travel time for transporting goods between Sohar and Abu Dhabi, as well as up to 50 percent of travel time for goods transported via trucks. With the ability to cover the distance between Sohar and Abu Dhabi in just 100 minutes, and the distance between Sohar and Al Ain in 47 minutes, the railway project is poised to revolutionize transportation and trade between the two countries.

This new railway project is expected to have a significant impact on the transportation and logistics industry in the region. By providing a faster, more cost-effective, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation, the project is set to boost economic growth and trade between Oman and the UAE. With the ability to transport goods more efficiently and with reduced carbon emissions, the railway network will play a key role in supporting the growth of various industries and sectors in both countries.

The CEO of Asyad Group emphasized that the railway project has been carefully planned to utilize the latest technology and engineering solutions to ensure its success. With the inclusion of tunnels, bridges, and strategically located stations, the project is designed to meet the transport needs of businesses and individuals in the region. The project is expected to create new opportunities for trade and investment, and enhance connectivity between Oman and the UAE, ultimately driving economic growth and prosperity for both countries.

Overall, the construction of the new railway project linking Oman and the UAE represents a significant milestone in enhancing transportation and trade between the two countries. With its innovative design, economic benefits, and potential for cost savings, the railway network is poised to revolutionize the way goods are transported in the region. As preparations for the construction work begin, the project is expected to bring about lasting positive impacts on the economies of Oman and the UAE, as well as improve connectivity and trade relations between the two nations.
