Over 100 horses participate in the traditional horse show and equestrian events

The first Zad Al Rakeb Equestrian Forum took place in the Wilayat of Ibra in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, where 100 horses participated in traditional horse shows and equestrian events. Nasser bin Saeed Al Yazidi, Chairman of the Zad Al Rakeb Committee in Ibra, highlighted the importance of preserving traditional sports in Oman to showcase the country’s rich heritage and pass on skills to future generations. The event, supervised by the Governor’s Office, aimed to promote tourism and attract horse racing enthusiasts from both inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

The traditional horse show event at Zad Al Rakeb Square in Ibra featured participants demonstrating their skills on horseback, such as throwing a bow, picking up pegs, and putting horses to sleep. The knights’ performances were accompanied by the Omani Arts Singing Troupe. The event was sponsored by Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhahli, the Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, and attended by various officials and fans of traditional horse sports. The forum included activities like the traditional ardha race, a poetry evening, training workshops for horse breeding, a local market for horse supplies, and horseback tours to tourist spots in the governorate.

The wilayats in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate are known for their rich tradition of horse breeding, training, and holding various horse-related events. The Zad Al Rakeb Equestrian Forum aims to continue showcasing these traditions and promoting interest in traditional sports among the local community and tourists.
