Rainfall of varying intensity continues in parts of Oman, with rainy clouds flowing over several governorates including Al-Buraimi, Al-Dhahirah, Musandam, North Al-Batinah, Muscat, and Al-Wusta. The Oman meteorology department has issued a weather alert warning of heavy thundershowers associated with active downdraft, fresh winds, and hail. These conditions are expected to occur on Thursday from mid-day until night over several governorates, with precipitation ranging from 20 to 80 mm. This may lead to flash floods and the Civil Aviation Authority advises everyone to take precautions during thundershowers, avoid crossing Wadis (Flash Flood), and avoid low lying areas.

The heavy rains are expected to be particularly intense over the governorates of Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahira, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, Muscat, and Dhofar. In addition, isolated thundershowers are expected over governorates of Musandam, South Al Sharqiya, and Al-Wusta. The Civil Aviation Authority has issued this warning to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in these areas during the heavy rainfall. It is important to take precautions and avoid risky activities during these weather conditions to prevent accidents and minimize damage.

The flow of valleys and reefs on the coasts and desert areas of Dhofar Governorate has contributed to the varying intensity of rainfall in Oman. Thundershowers are a common weather phenomenon in this region, especially during the monsoon season. The Civil Aviation Authority’s weather alert is aimed at keeping the public informed and safe during these potentially dangerous conditions. It is important for everyone to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and follow the advice of local authorities to ensure their safety.

The possibility of flash floods is a major concern during heavy thundershowers in Oman. Flash floods can occur rapidly and without warning, posing a significant risk to individuals and property in low lying areas. The Civil Aviation Authority’s warning to avoid crossing Wadis and low lying areas is crucial for preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of everyone in the affected governorates. By following these precautions and staying informed about the latest weather updates, residents and visitors can better protect themselves during these challenging weather conditions.

The heavy rains and thundershowers in Oman are part of the country’s natural climate patterns and are essential for maintaining the ecosystem. However, it is important for residents and visitors to be prepared for these weather events and take necessary precautions to stay safe. By following the advice of local authorities and avoiding risky activities during thundershowers, individuals can minimize the risks associated with heavy rainfall and potential flash floods. The Civil Aviation Authority’s weather alert serves as a reminder to everyone to prioritize safety and take proactive measures during adverse weather conditions in Oman.

Overall, the ongoing rainfall in parts of Oman, along with the weather alert issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, highlights the importance of being vigilant and prepared during thundershowers. By staying informed, taking necessary precautions, and avoiding risky behavior during heavy rainfall, individuals can protect themselves and their communities from potential harm. The safety and well-being of residents and visitors should always be a top priority during adverse weather conditions, and it is essential to follow the guidance of local authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone in Oman.
