50th Anniversary of Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

The Malaysian Embassy in Bahrain, in partnership with BACA and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia, is organizing the Malaysian Film Festival to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The festival will showcase three award-winning films that highlight the richness of Malaysian culture. The screenings will be held at the Bahrain National Museum Auditorium from 29th to 31st May, with each film starting at 6.30pm and ending at 8pm.

The films chosen for the festival include “Boboiboy Movie 2,” a Malaysian animated superhero comedy directed by Nizam Razak. This family-friendly film follows the adventures of Boboiboy, a young boy with elemental powers. “Ola Bola,” a sports drama directed by Chiu Keng Guan, tells the story of the Malaysian national football team’s journey to the 1980 Moscow Olympics. “Guang,” a drama directed by Quek Shio Chuan, explores the relationship between a young man with autism and his father.

This film festival offers audiences in Bahrain a chance to experience the vibrancy and diversity of Malaysian cinema. The selection of films provides a glimpse into different aspects of Malaysian culture, from the lighthearted adventures of Boboiboy to the emotional depth of Guang. The event is a great opportunity for viewers to immerse themselves in Malaysian storytelling and gain a deeper understanding of the country’s heritage and values.
